A Bit About Holly

Holly is an advocate for being your authentic self and embracing who you are. As a member of the BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, and neurodivergent community, Holly does not stray from the hard conversations including the impact of systemic racism and oppression among minorities. Holly’s passion for these populations only continued to increase while completing her Bachelors and Masters of Social Work at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, and now it is a central part of her work as a clinician. 

 

Holly works with clients aged 12+ and has years of experience specifically with children and teens, offering skills to clients that can at times struggle to even be motivated to attend therapy or understand its importance in the moment. Holly's philosophy for effective therapy is that therapy should be about growth and learning, while being enjoyable.

With children and families, Holly applies theoretical frameworks such as systems theory, psychosocial development therapy, and attachment theory combined with games, worksheets, and activities to facilitate a therapeutic approach that makes therapy something you want to go to! Regarding working with adults, Holly continues to use creative interventions such as art to increase awareness of emotions, process trauma, adapt and cope with life transitions, and work through identity concerns. 

Holly's therapeutic approach can be summarized in this quote by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross: "People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within." Holly will help you recognize your inner light!
