A Bit About Brooke

If you have consistently dealt with feeling overwhelmed, struggled with time management, disorganization, forgetfulness, constant fidgeting, and avoidance behaviors, Brooke may be the exact therapist you're looking for. Brooke is passionate about working with Gen Z and millennial adults who are struggling with ADHD, anxiety, and depression. This includes older teens who are feeling misunderstood, college-age students who are feeling flooded by their courses or adjusting to just graduating from college, and millennials who continue to find themselves overwhelmed, unhappy, and/or easily distracted and making careless mistakes.

Brooke emphasizes creating a compassionate, supportive, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship grounded in both actionable steps for change and the deeper process work of understanding the emotions, thoughts, and beliefs that can keep us stuck. She sees her role as assisting clients in taking a step back and gaining insight into these thoughts, emotions, and actions. In sessions, you can expect her to provide expert strategies while empowering you to be the expert in your own life.

Brooke employs humor, warmth, creativity, and empathy along with several evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Through a collaborative and conversational approach, Brooke aims to walk alongside you as you process your experiences and discover the strengths you already hold within. She believes that focusing on your mental health is one of the greatest acts of self-compassion. As your therapist, Brooke will encourage you to embrace vulnerability, build self-trust, and connect with your true, authentic self.

Brooke Gibson, MSW, LCSW graduated with a degree in Film Studies and a minor in Women and Gender Studies from UNC Wilmington in 2014. She returned to UNCW and earned her Master's in Social Work in 2018. Her diverse educational background and professional skills enable her to approach therapy with a unique perspective, ensuring a compassionate and effective therapeutic experience.
